The Icing on the Cake

Entry from Gabriel Avilla:-

For as long as I've known my wife, she was never one that could be labeled too "girly."

She was a tomboy in high school, the hot girl-next-door type in college, and I was lucky enough to land her as my wife through it all. Recently she has developed a taste for more high end fashion items, probably due to me acquiring several items myself for my wardrobe. It was definitely due to a change in our perspective of life since we now have a beautiful four month old baby. Gone are the days of getting drunk for no reason in college, yet we are still not in the mini-van stage. We are both comfortably in the middle, enjoying our time as young adults and looking forward to the next steps in life. And with that comes an important step for my wife; acquiring her first Louis Vuitton.

On a recent trip to Las Vegas (both for a wedding and to see family), my wife and I went on a shopping spree - well, just because we were in Las Vegas. Living in Wichita, Kansas provides you minimal access to high end fashion, so we jumped on the opportunity.

My wife's taste for fashion began about a year ago, when I bought her first Coach bag. She didn't quite understand what the big deal was, until she had one and the reaction she received from her large Italian family. Her parents are well off, and they were happy to see her enjoy the great things in life as well. Especially since they would bet money on her wanting a softball bat rather than a purse, so it was great to see "daddy's little girl" becoming a woman. In any case, she wanted to buy another purse to match the dress she was going to wear, and she came across the Murkami line.

She wasn't aware that it was Louis Vuitton at the time, but she thought it was cute anyway. I explained to her that owning that kind of purse is a good step above the ones she currently owns, and that since it had 33 colors (funny how I knew that stuff and she didn't) it would match all of her clothes. She recognized it as being the "Jessica," and pretty much gave me the puppy dog eyes look that I always will fall for until the day I die. Of course I gave in and bought a small wallet for her from the Murakami line, since I would probably have to save money for the Speedy 30 she wants.

Now she has caught the bug and realized that owning one is not enough, and that having the highest quality of items in life is important to recognize our accomplishments. Some may call it being materialistic, but I pride myself in providing my loved ones with the best in the world, and a purse is no exception. In any case, the whole trip was good, but her acquiring her first Louis, no matter how small, made it great.

The reason why I enjoy spoiling my wife is because she deserves to have the best in life. She's a new mom raising our child away from her family in Arizona, and being married to the military is difficult in itself. Every opportunity I get to show her how special she is to me, I pounce on because seeing her smile gets me through my worst days.

A Louis Vuitton is not just another fashion item, it's a statement of where we stand in life and a reflection of our personality. The bright colors, quality of production, and overall style of the Murakami fits my wife perfectly, because she has upgraded my life so much that she deserves to be on top.

My wife is truly a woman on the "high-end" of love and life, and her being proud to own a Louis Vuitton is icing on the cake.
