The Louis Vuitton Lockit from the Suhali range takes you back to the past glories of LV history, specifically it's travel roots.

ade in three sizes the Louis Vuitton Lockit models it's appearance very closely to a refined version of the old steamer bags travellers used from the 1900s to the 1940s.

The sizes for the Lockit are:-

• GM - 19" x 14.3" x 8"
• MM - 16.3" x 11.8" x 7.9"
• PM - 13.5" x 11.1" x 6.7"

What is fairly unusual though is that the interior of each size stays the same.

No, I don't mean that the actual space within the bag stays the same but the actual layout. (Important to note here for avoiding fakes in future though - the interior still follows the form of being the same color as the exterior of each bag with the mini monogram design on the textile lining!!)

Each Suhali Lockit has a cell phone pocket and an interior flat pocket - both on the same side of the bag. Now in other lines within the LV range, the handbags tend to have differences as they grow "larger" with, for instance, dividers or extra pockets added into the larger bags.

Still, this doesn't detract from these bags at all. Made from the Suhali fine goats leather and ignoring all chemical treatments (for which the Suhali is best known) these bags also find themselves joining the list of newly released bags that have protective feet on the base! (It was well overdue in coming but is now more of a requirement than an extra!)

With a zip top closure, wide access and rolled handles mounted on brass links - these bags are sturdily built, practical in use and seriously fine in looks. Now it's no secret that the Suhali line has always been a huge hit with me but I'm not being biased when I say that this has to be in the top ten most practical bags list for everyone.

The only downside?

Sadly, as with all the Suhali range they come at a premium price point. No surprise, considering the quality of materials and craftsmanship used in their birth but - ouch!

The Louis Vuitton Lockit GM currently runs at $3,200, the MM $2,620 and the PM finishing at $2,230. (Prices as at Jan 2007).

If you are the type of handbag user who buys and uses, seriously uses the bag in everyday living - this would be a solid, dependable addition to your wardrobe.

If however, you are the type to buy and holster your babies, taking them out rarely and then only when you can match them to outfit or occasion - then the Louis Vuitton Suhali Lockit may not be the right bag for you. After all - a bag of this quality and price brooks no compromise. It just basically screams at you "Use me, abuse me and run me into the ground - I can take it!!"
