Louis Vuitton Suhali
The Louis Vuitton Suhali range is all about quality, durability and goats!
That's right - goats.
Or to be more specific, goatskins!
As you can imagine the Louis Vuitton Suhali range, launched in 2003, is made from a rare and specific goatskin, found only in South East Asia and India. Even though the goatskin is thick and very hardwearing this rare material is also exceedingly supple and soft.
Looks wise it has a very pronounced natural grain which is natural, not chemically treated.
The goatskin leather has been vegetable tanned and surface treated to preserve the sensual feel and softness without covering or changing that beautiful grain.
The style of each of the bags is purposely designed to reflect the Traveller Trunk history that is Louis Vuitton.
The use of the golden brass studs, the metal corner plates and the s-locks all are reminiscent of the trunks and hard suitcases used since Louis Vuitton began in 1854.
As with all of the Louis Vuitton bags, cases and ranges the Louis Vuitton Suhali bags all have their own names to distinguish them by.
- L'Imprevisible
- L'Ingenieux PM and GM
- L'Extravagant
- Le Talentueux
- Le Fabuleux
- L'Impetueux
- L'Aimable
- L'Affriolant
- L'Epanoui
- Lockit
And my most favorite feature of these gorgeous bags?
Without a doubt it has to be the use of the color matching, monogrammed fabric lining. Using a design very similar to the Monogram Mini appearance each bag's interior is lined with a beautiful fabric in the same color as the exterior of the bag.
The colors available in the original range were white, black, blue and plum! (As of 2005 I believe the plum has been dropped and replaced with Terracotta. In 2006 they added Sienne and Noir into the range as well.) So you have a white lining for the white bag, plum lining for the plum bag and so on and so on.
Now these bags are not cheap by any stretch of the imagination, with prices more in the ballpark with the limited edition ranges that LV create.
But you know with something such as this, the money you are spending is going to be an investment, not only in the quality of bag you are buying but also in the future value and durability that they'll offer.
As this article goes to "print" on the 1st 4 Louis Vuitton site there is no talk of this being a limited edition range with a proposed date at which production stops. Instead we understand that the range is here to stay.
If you haven't had the pleasure in seeing this range in the flesh - so to speak (apologies to the goats!!) - then I strongly suggest you make sure to drop in on your nearest LV store when passing and try one on for size.
I think you'll be highly impressed.
