A Twist in the Tail?

The Louis Vuitton Multicolore Berlingot is a very unusual key and loose change holder.

The Louis Vuitton Multicolore Berlingot is named after a Carpentras candy and it's shape certainly reminds you of those old humbugs, striped and twisted in exactly the same shape. Here's hoping the Berlingot lasts as long as they did!

Small enough to fit into most city bags, it's quirky shape and style will make you feel good when you pull it out in front of friends. Choruses of "Ooohs" and "Aaahs" are likely to greet it's appearance amongst even the most hard bitten fashion lovers.

But as a practical piece for everyday use - it has it's limitations.

The Louis Vuitton Berlingot is described by LV as being a key holder that can also be used as a change purse or a charm bag. They are certainly right when it comes down to "either - or". It can't do both.

Use it as a key holder - attaching your keys to the handy, internally fixed key ring and flipping them in and out with panache - it can do.

Storing your loose change away and delving in quickly to find the odd cents - not a problem.

But just try rifling through it with your keys in there, searching for that elusive dime - and you'll soon get annoyed. Or better yet, try moving your keys out to use whilst you have loose change in there and watch as every damn coin in there scatters to the four winds long before you can manage to say "Blast - I should have zipped it up first!"

This then is the rub for me. I can buy a seriously good, solid and highly useable key holder in the Louis Vuitton Multicolore range already. One that is also flat and takes up less room in my handbag. Yes, I grant you it won't get as many 'Ooohs' and 'Aaahs', but heck, it works.

They also have a perfectly good coin purse as well.

So what we have here is a huge dose of creating something that really only exists to satisfy the creative talents of someone who found a left over piece of natural MC canvas - and decide to design the first thing that popped into his head.

Cute - very cute.

Just not very practical for $235.00.
